Pitches

The campsite contains 25 spacious pitches, each of which are large enough for up to 8 people and it is possible to book 2 or more pitches so that groups of friends or families can all pitch next to each other.

We are happy to accept small campervans (VW type size – sadly no motorhomes or caravans due access to the site) but it’s worth noting that we don’t have any electric hook up available.

Pitches are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. If you would like a specific pitch, let us know when you book and we will do our best. Please note that some pitches are further from the facilities than others (maximum 200m).

We also have a Shepherd’s Hut, a Pig Ark and 3 Camping Pods available to stay in, for a little more comfort!

Facilities

We have modern camping facilities on-site that include: 5 flushing loos, a separate wash basin area and 4 hot showers in wooden enclosures (one of which is open-air). Taking a hot shower outdoors is surely one of life’s most simple pleasures! We aim to keep our facilities extremely clean at all times.

We also have a washing up shelter with hot water, a communal fridge and freezer and power point charging phones.

Campfires

Each of our pitches has a designated fire pit. We encourage their use as we believe camping is all about having a roaring campfire and we can supply logs throughout your stay. Occasionally, during droughts or particularly hot periods, there is the risk of crops catching fire, so we may ask you to refrain from having campfires on some pitches.

For groups of up to 8, please book 1 pitch. Groups between 8 and 16, please book 2 pitches.

Things to know before you book

It is essential that you read ‘Things to know before you book’ and our ‘Terms and Conditions’ before you book online.

  • We have an online booking system (above), where you can check availability and pay for your stay. If you are having any problems with the booking system or have any queries about the campsite, please do email us camping@housedean.co.uk or phone us (+44) 07919 668 816, and we will get back to you promptly.

  • If an accommodation type (e.g. Shepherds Hut, Camping Pod etc) does not appear in the available options, after entering your dates, then this means it is already booked.  Each glamping option has its own booking calendar where you can check availability. Click on the Glamping tab in the menu above and select your preferred accomodation.

  • Please note, the above calendar will show you ALL accommodation options that are available on your selected dates.

Group bookings:

  • Our standard camping pitches can happily accommodate up to 8 people and a maximum of 2 cars. It is only possible to book up to 2 pitches at one time using the online booking system (so up to a total of 16 people). Groups of up to 8 people:

  • Enter the total number of adults and children, using the drop down lists. Please only book 1 pitch – there is no need to click on “add another pitch”. 

Groups of between 8 and 16 people

  • Fill the first pitch up to 8 people using the drop down list (for example, 4 adults and 4 children) and then click on “Add another pitch” for any remaining guests. This will mean your pitches are next to each other.

Groups of more than 16 people

  • Please contact us by phone or email (camping@housedean.co.uk)

Other points to note:

  • We are a small, family friendly campsite so if you’re looking to have a party, to make excessive noise or disturb your camping neighbours then we are not the place for you. There is strictly no plugged in music at any time. We do welcome acoustic music around the campfire although all noise must be kept to a minimum after 11pm.

  • Please be aware that for standard camping pitches we have a minimum 2 night stay at weekends in June, July and August - if you are walking the South Downs Way, please email us - camping@housedean.co.uk - as we have ‘backpack pitches’ available for 1 night stays. Subject to availability we will release single night bookings on the Monday prior to the coming weekend. The Camping Pods (Swift, Swallow and Skylark) have a 2 night minimum stay at weekends at all times. The Pig Ark and Shepherds Hut have a 2 night minimum throughout the season. On Bank Holiday weekends, a 3 night minimum stay applies for all our accommodation types.

  • We only charge for children aged 3 or over so there is no need to include younger children in the booking process.

  • We sadly don’t accept bookings for stag or hen parties.

  • If you’re a group of more than 2 under 21s then you must contact us to agree the booking before using the online booking system. You may be refused entry if you’re a group of this nature that books without prior agreement.

  • If you’re coming in a campervan (we can only accept small campervans – sadly no motorhomes or caravans) then please let us know this in the additional requirements box at the end of the booking process. Please note we have no electric hook-up.

  • There are occasions when the field gets too wet to drive on so in this event we may ask cars to be parked at the entrance of the campsite and for you to walk to your pitch. We will do our best to avoid this and will always be on hand to help carry any belongings.

  • A maximum of 2 dogs per camping pitch or 1 dog in all our accommodations are allowed, provided they are kept on a lead at all times, cleared up after straight away and kept off our beds. You can add dogs to your booking during the booking process.

Arrival and departure times

Standard camping pitches : Arrivals from midday – 8pm and departure 11am
Camping Pod : Arrivals from 2pm – 8pm and departure 11am
Shepherds Hut : Arrival from 3pm – 8pm and departure 11am

Cancellation policy

We are happy to refund 75% of your payment if given more than 30 days notice by email and 50% of your payment if you cancel your stay with us at least 15 days in advance. Any less notice than this and unfortunately we are not able to offer refunds.
